Meet the Briarwood Family

The heart of Briarwood has always been about welcoming others. Meet the family and team behind the home, and the people who help make every stay feel warm, comfortable, and memorable.

Hospitality Is Personal to Us

Briarwood Bed and Breakfast is a true family endeavor, brought to life by Jim, Stephanie, Grace, Caroline, and Sophie. Deeply rooted in the Honea Path community, our family has always valued staying close to home and the people who matter most. Grace, Caroline, and Sophie each attended Clemson University for their undergraduate studies, while Stephanie earned her undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina before completing her master’s at Clemson.

Coming Home

to Honea Path

For our family, Briarwood is about more than opening a bed and breakfast. It’s about coming home.

Stephanie grew up in Honea Path and, after attending the University of South Carolina, always knew she wanted to find her way back. No matter where life took her, she never lost her love for this community or her desire to be part of its future.

Years later, that same love for Honea Path was shared by her daughter, Caroline. A Clemson graduate, Caroline also felt called back to the town she grew up loving. While they may cheer for different teams on Saturdays, they share the same appreciation for the people, traditions, and sense of community that make Honea Path special.

Creating Briarwood has given our family the opportunity to invest in the town that has given us so much. We hope this home becomes a place where visitors feel welcomed, friends gather, and memories are made for years to come.

The House

A Home with a
Story to Tell

For more than 100 years, this home has been part of the fabric of Honea Path. While much has changed over the years, the character and craftsmanship that make the house special remain at the heart of Briarwood today.

As the home was refreshed and prepared for its next chapter, preserving its history was just as important as creating a comfortable place for guests to stay and gather.

More than a century of history, thoughtfully preserved.

Preserving

What Matters

Throughout the home, many of the original details have been carefully preserved, offering a glimpse into the craftsmanship and character of an earlier time. During the restoration process, special care was taken to preserve meaningful pieces of the home’s history.

The exterior dentil molding was handcrafted to match the original design, helping maintain the character of the home while ensuring it could be enjoyed for years to come.

Original Craftsmanship

Hand-carved fireplaces, original hardwood floors, and beautifully preserved architectural details.

Historic Character

Original stained glass, built-ins, archways, and interior shutters have been carefully preserved.

Preserved with Purpose

From original clawfoot tubs to the home's historic finishes, Briarwood's most distinctive features have been thoughtfully maintained.

Honoring The Past

While clearing the backyard, a piece of granite engraved with the original family’s last name was discovered. Recognizing its connection to the home’s story, the family chose to place it beside the doorway as a lasting tribute to those who came before.

The family was also fortunate to receive some of the original owners’ linens from their granddaughter in Aiken, South Carolina, another special connection to the home’s past.
